Balloon Dilation of Constricted Ureter with Placement of Double J-Stent

ID: exh44308a
This stock medical exhibit illustrates the balloon dilation of a constricted ureter with placement of a double J-stent using five images. The first image orients the viewer with an anterior view of the abdomen and shows an inserted catheter that stops at the level of the right ureteral stricture. The right kidney, right ureteral stricture site, bladder, and penis and urethra are clearly labeled. The second image depicts the advancement of a guide wire beyond the stricture site, followed by the catheter. The next image shows a balloon passed over the guide wire, and the balloon is dilated to enlarge the stricture and open the ureter. Finally, the positioning of a double J ureteral stent is demonstrated.
