Closed Reduction and Traction Pin Placement for Left Hip Dislocation

ID: exh74371a
This stock medical exhibit features the key surgical steps of a reduction procedure to stabilize a left hip fracture/dislocation. Images include: 1. The closed reduction of the hip showing the gloved hands of the surgeon grasping, rotating and flexing the leg to allow the femoral head to pop back into the acetabular joint. 2. Insertion of the traction pin through the proximal aspect of the tibia from lateral to medial. 3. Attachment of a bow device to both ends of the traction pin to which a cord can be attached to pull downward on leg relieving the pressure on the injured hip. 4. Subsequent condition with the patient lying on a bed with the traction mechanism in place with the traction cord run through a pulley and attached to weights that keep constant traction on the leg.
