This medical exhibit begins with one large anterior cut-away view of the male abdomen with the stomach and transverse colon removed offering a clear view of the pancreas and biliary system. This image reveals widespread infected necrosis of the lower (inferior) pancreas and even more dramatic necrosis of the surrounding peripancreatic tissue including brownish-black appearance of the surrounding retroperitoneal fat. Murky brown infected fluid will be shown in the region of the lesser sac and approximately five liters of yellow ascitic fluid will be shown throughout the abdomen. An inset of the gallbladder and associated ducts shows the bile stones blocking the opening of the common bile duct.
