The first image is an interpretation of a pre-operative X-ray showing avascular necrosis of the talus and traumatic arthritis of the subtalar joint. the remaining images describe the surgical repair, including the lateral and medial incisions to expose and remove articular cartilage from the talus, tibia, and fibula, removal of a portion of fibula for use as bone graft, placement of nail and screws through a separate incision and into the calcaneus and tibia, and the placement of bone grafts and a bone growth stimulator into the joint.
