This medical exhibit begins with one anterior view of the left neck and shoulder region showing the internal anatomy transparently beneath the skin. This image reveals the compression of the posterior cord of the brachial plexus and left axillary nerve in the region of the thoracic outlet. Also, the key steps of this surgical procedure are illustrated. These images include the open exposure of the complex anatomy of this region, the removal of the anterior and medial scalene muscles, the mobilization of the subclavian artery and the neurolysis of the compressed nerve structures to clear them from the surrounding scar tissue.
