This medical exhibit features the following multiple images, side-by-side comparative images of abdominal contents before and after the second surgery- Images show the following:

Pre-operative Condition: -Abdomen after the subtotal colectomy, splenic flexure take down/ mobilization, left ileostomy, abdomen after prolonged mid-gut volvulus. The bowel ischemic in appearance, most heavily towards the distal ileum and ileostomy site with areas of gangrene.

Post-operative Condition -Abdomen immediate post-op revealing the removal of the volvulus with approximately 5-6 feet of pink bowel remaining. 1.6M of the ischemic and necrotic bowel removed. The immature jejunal stump xiting the original ileostomy opening.

The body of a slim 28 year old white female with pale skin and painful distended abdomen pre-operatively.
