ID: exh77089a
This stock exhibit compares normal digestive anatomy with a condition referred to as a paraesophageal hernia. The exhibit begins with a silhouette view of the upper body of a female figure. The diaphragm, esophagus and stomach are visible. The normal anatomy depicts the stomach within the abdomen and the esophagus shown perforating the diaphragm through the esophageal hiatus. A detailed inset of the paraesophageal hernia shows 2/3 of the stomach has herniated into the chest cavity.
